Saying it is the best training camp ever, Miguel Cotto told the Puerto Rican press after an open workout in Tampa, Florida, that his preparation is almost perfect and that victory on November 14 is within reach.

“We are all good, satisfied and pleased (with training camp),” Cotto told the newspaper El Nuevo Dia as his showdown with Filipino star Manny Pacquiao is fast approaching.

“This is the best preparation,” he said.

“I feel very calm and I have no worries. Unlike in my previous training camps, we are all enjoying each other’s company every day,” said the 28-year-old Cotto, whose World Boxing Organization welterweight throne will be on the line in the scheduled 12-round catch weight match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Cotto has been camping out at the Fight Factory Gym in Tampa since the third week of September although he had actually started working out in his native Puerto Rico as early as August after vacationing in the Dominican Republic.

Cotto trains six days a week with Sunday as not only a time of rest but a day for recovery from the previous week’s grueling grind.

Long-time assistant Joe Santiago, who will be working his corner for only the second time, is being assisted in the training by conditioning coach Phil Landman, while the support crew is made up of cutman Joe Chavez, publicist and aide-de-camp Bryan Perez, and chef Chris Ortiz.

Chavez used to work as Pacquiao’s cutman and has been replaced by Argentine Miguel Diaz.

Also present in training camp is the fighter’s father Miguel Sr., who is also part of the team alongside lawyer Gabriel Penagaricano.

Team Cotto will stay in Tampa until October 31.
